Bolivia participated in its first Pan Am Games at Winnipeg 1967. Bolivia was one of eight countries to compete at the sole Pan Am Winter Games in 1990 in Las Leñas, Argentina but finished without any medals.

Bolivia’s first Pan Am medal came at Havana 1991, when William Arancibia won silver in taekwondo.

Two bronze medals were won at Santo Domingo 2003 – Benjamin Martinez in road cycling, and Ana Núñez and Lizbeth Santos in women’s racquetball doubles.

In Guadalajara 2011, Bolivia had 34 athletes participating in the Games. The country collected two additional bronze medals in women’s racquetball with Maria Vargas in singles and Cintia Loma and Jenny Daza in the women’s team event.

With a total of five medals, Bolivia is currently thirty-fifth on the all-time Pan Am Games medals list.
