Delierre, Cornett win bronze medals in squash at Pan Am Games

TORONTO — Canada's Shawn Delierre and Sam Cornett each earned a bronze medal in squash competition Sunday at the Pan American Games.

Montreal's Delierre advanced to the men's semifinals, where he fell 3-0 to Colombia's Miguel Rodriguez.

"He was capable of putting the balls in a little bit tighter in the front corners," Delierre said. "He had a nice top spin drop that put me under pressure, some hard, low length that I was forced to lift. So his all-around basic game was a bit stronger."

Ottawa's Cornett advanced to the women's semis before losing 3-1 to Amanda Sobhy of the United States.

"It was a bit of a roller coaster, for both of us," Cornett said. "She played really confidently in the first, I played really confidently in the second. It makes for kind of uneven scores."
