Uruguay has participated in the Parapan Am Games since Mar del Plata 2003.
At Guadalajara 2011, Uruguay sent 13 athletes to compete in three sports: football 5-a-side, swimming and wheelchair tennis.
Uruguay has appeared at every Pan Am Games since the inaugural edition at Buenos Aires 1951.
Uruguay’s best performance came at São Paulo 1963 when the country won 12 medals with four gold, one silver and seven bronze.
At Guadalajara 2011, Uruguay sent 113 athletes to compete in 20 sports, winning three silver medals in Basque pelota as well as bronze medals in sailing and men’s football.
With 78 medals – 11 gold, 24 silver and 43 bronze – Uruguay is currently ranked fifteenth on the all-time Pan Am Games medals list.
